Frequently asked questions
How much notice do you need to create my special cake?
The earlier the better, and you can place your order as far in advance as you wish. The notice required will depend on the size, complexity and detail of the cake, however I will always try my best to accommodate your request. A minimum of 3 weeks notice is usually required for most decorated cakes but I would recommend giving as much notice as possible. For wedding cake & tiered cake orders, ideally 3 months notice especially with a rich fruit cake as I like to give them an extra little tipple! A 50% deposit is required to confirm your order.
Can you tailor your cakes to my budgetary requirements?
The level of detail and complexity as well as the size of the cake will of course determine the cost, and therefore each cake is priced on an individual basis. However I am happy to work with you to create your dream cake without compromising on quality and taste and also without breaking the bank!

What size cake do I need?
The table below gives an approximate guide to the number of portions you can cut from square or round cakes of various sizes. Rich fruit cakes are traditionally cut into pieces measuring 1” x 1” x 3” deep, whilst sponge cake portions are usually larger, about 2” x 1” meaning that you will get fewer portions from a sponge cake than a similar sized fruit cake. Shapes such as ovals, hearts and hexagons will give roughly the same number of portions as a round cake of the same size.
Can you make cakes for special dietary requirements?
I will do my best to accommodate any dietary requirements or special requests you may have for example, if you are gluten intolerant I can make the cake recipe gluten free (it will still taste delicious!). My sponge and chocolate cakes do not contain nuts however they may contain nut traces and are prepared in an environment with equipment where nuts may be present. Fruit cakes do (unless requested) contain nuts and alcohol.
